{"id":511,"date":"2010-11-24T00:31:19","date_gmt":"2010-11-24T08:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/216.92.226.17\/?p=511"},"modified":"2010-11-24T00:31:19","modified_gmt":"2010-11-24T08:31:19","slug":"nano-art-criticism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erinvang.com\/?p=511","title":{"rendered":"Nano-art criticism: Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne, and Beyond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today Mom, Victoria, and I went to Part 2 of the de Young Museum&#8217;s big exhibition of art on loan from the Musee d&#8217;Orsay, entitled &#8220;Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne, and Beyond: Post-Impressionist Masterpieces from the Mus\u00e9e d&#8217;Orsay.&#8221; It was much the same as Part I: an amazing exhibition but too damned crowded to be enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p>I do, however, have several takeaways that Victoria likened to my &#8220;nano-opera&#8221; posts, the nano-scale opera plot synapses I write from time to time. She said, &#8220;Now we have nano-art!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Here you go:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Georges Seurat invented LCD displays.<\/li>\n<li>Paul Gauguin invented paint-by-number.<\/li>\n<li>The Nabis invented the pattern-fill in MacPaint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And it&#8217;s criminal what the de Young is doing to the experience of viewing spectacular art.
